The first two sections of the book (nearly 70 pages) cover the basic information you'll need for working with clay, as well as a number of techniques, such as surface stamping, carving, mold-making, and caning. The projects section of the book is somewhat less of a series of "step-by-step", photo-based lessons than you'll find in some books -- though there are several projects that do have "process photos". Rather, the projects are grouped according to decorative style (Antique Ivory, for instance), with text-based instruction supplemented by photos of a wide array of finished projects.
The reader is encouraged to observe how any of these decorative styles -- or for that matter, any other decorative style -- can be adapted for a variety of applications. The conversational tone of the text makes it very readable, and the author frequently offers helpful hints gleaned from personal experience.
